We will stay at a private bush block in the beautiful Margaret River Region

About us

ColourYour.life was founded in 2015 by Gabriela Himstedt to share her vast  knowledge and guide the artistic skills of all levels. She has over 25years experience as a professional artist. She was born in Germany, spent a lot of time in Italy before she moved to Australia 2012.

What you can expect

During the retreat, you will learn about painting expressive landscapes, which is a painting style that features loose brushwork using bold and thick paint. I will demonstrate techniques to achieve this beautiful painting style and guide you along the way. 

Immersing yourself in nature often sparks inspiration and Margaret River is a marvellous location to do so. We will be taking the time to appreciate the beautiful surroundings where we will sketch and draw plein air. These sketches will then become a source of inspiration for other artworks. We will be painting mostly small scale artworks in acrylic paint on acrylic paper and paint board.

Itinerary

Friday

We will depart on Friday at 2pm from 17 Capulet Street, Coolbellup

Arrival time approx. 5pm at Margaret River. After setting up camp, we will have time to explore the beautiful surroundings.

At dusk, we will have dinner together. Please bring something to share and your own drinks.

Saturday

After breakfast, we will have a full painting day from 9am-4pm, with 1 hour lunch break. I will begin by giving a brief demonstration, and explaining some of the techniques involved. Thereafter, you will have plenty of time to play around with the techniques and experiment on your own. My aim is to help you develop your skills in this loose style painting using acrylic paint, while allowing your own creativity to flow.

After painting we can go for a well deserved swim and walk before dinner.

Sunday

In the morning, we will discuss about our paintings, and have a final meeting, followed by a walk in nature and lunch together.

More information

• We will camp at the private property and we are able to use the bathroom/ —toilet in the house.

• Please ask if you need any camping gear

• We will be outside most of the time, but if the weather doesn’t play along, we are able to paint in the studio and have our meals inside. 

• Pack painting clothes and casual attire. A good waterproof/windproof jacket is great for when the weather changes and you want to do walks outside.

• We will be driving in a convoy, hence if you are unable to start at the stated time or want to leave earlier, please let me know.

• We will set up the painting area outside with a gazebo and sufficient tables and chairs.
